Sometimes you have those days when there is not much coming out of your hands. I’m writing this at 17:09 on Monday and I have only one thing crossed off of my to-do list for today. And there are only four things on my list: doing laundy, buying groceries, buying new plants, writing blog posts.

Doing laundry: I wanted to do this half an hour ago, but all three washing machines in the laundry room were occupied. So I left my laundry basket there, like: ‘I’m next!’, and I went home to lie down on the couch because I was so tired. Now I might or might not have an imprint of my wedding ring on my cheek… But by now my laundry is in the machine though! Up next is the dryer and once I folded it I can cross that off of my list.

Can somebody please explain why the Americans celebrate Saint Patrick’s Day, which is an Irish holiday?

My sister is visiting and I explained it to her as ‘the Americans just like holidays, so they adapted this Irish holiday’.
But please tell me if I’m correct and besides that… Whát are we actually celebrating? I know about the green color, the clovers and those leprechauns. But why? And how?

Dutch Potato Salad – Huzarensalade

A couple of weeks ago I was sitting on the balcony, with my laptop working on a blogpost. Suddenly I heard somebody calling:
“Hello!”

“Hello!”

“Heeelllooooohooo!”

I sat still and looked around. There was nobody I could see from where I sat. So it sure wasn’t for me. I wasn’t expecting visitors and nobody could see me from down the street because we have an enclosed balcony.
So I ignored it.

But then, a week later it was the same voice:

“Hello!”

“Helloooohooo!”

“You, on the balcony!”

From where I sat I couldn’t see any other neighbors on their balconies, so maybe this person wás calling me after all? But how could he see me? Strange!

So I got up and looked down.

Chinese Chicken Skewers

Summer has begun and we bought a barbecue grill last weekend. I’m the cook at home, P once said he can prepare food but he can’t cook. That’s exactly how it is! But when it comes to grilling, he’s my man!

Three years ago -when P & I just met- I invited some friends over for a barbecue party at my roof terrace. I would practically be away the whole summer so this would be a nice thing to do before I had to miss all the fun that summer. And of course I already figured out this was a nice opportunity to see P again, I already had a small crush on him 😉

Luckily he showed up, bringing some shrimps in a fantastic marinade. ‘Wow, a man who can cook!’ I thought, and I liked him even more.
