One of my first food truck experiences after moving to LA last year was the Currywurst Truck. There is one thing you might not know about me and it’s that I grew up near the German border at the east side of the Netherlands.

While growing up we often went to Germany for shopping on Dutch holidays. Ever since then I love German food: pretzels, german bread and currywurst. And while studying me and my best friend drove to Germany for grocery shopping at least once a month. It was just a 15-minute drive and I would stock up on alcohol because

Chinese-style stir-fried rice cakes with napa cabbage | in my Red Kitchen I have no idea why I haven’t posted a recipe with stir-fried rice cakes before since I make it at least once a month.

And for a food bloggers that’s quite often! You see, as a food blogger you are always trying out new recipes and cooking something you haven’t made before so you can post it on your blog. Believe me, that’s really a down side of blogging 🙁

I never really had Korean food until 3 (or so) years ago when friends took us to a Korean BBQ restaurant in London. There aren’t many Korean people in the Netherlands, let alone Korean restaurants. I’m so sorry for all the Dutchies that are missing out on all that delicious food! 😉

Of course, you can easily make it at home but picking up Korean food at the food truck is so much better 😉 Uhm ok I shouldn’t have said that

Aaaaaand… another one! I already promised you a second hot dog recipe. For this second edition of Food Truck Tuesday I was planning to make the Chili dog I had at our first visit of an LA food truck.

And right before I was planning to make them we ran into the Dogtown Dogs truck again, this time at the LACMA at a Sunday when we went to the La Brea Tar Pits. We were into a small and quick lunch at 3pm. Yes, on Sundays we always take it slow and easy 🙂

And there it is, the second Food Truck Tuesday since I came up with this section 😉

For this second edition I wanted to focus to the first Food Truck meal we had after arriving in Los Angeles a little over 9 months ago. It was on a sunny Saturday…

Wow, that sounds like the beginning of fairy tale 😉

One of the best things of living in LA are the food trucks! My love for food trucks started almost two years, when we were in LA for vacation. P had to work that day and he took the car so I walked to the beach to sit there and read a book. On my way back I noticed I was a little bit hungry and right at that moment there it was: a food truck!

I stood in line and ordered a quesadilla. But then the lady in the truck asked me what kind of quesadilla I wanted. I panicked, looked at the menu but it was all in spanish so I ordered

Lamb stew with porcini

Lamb-stew-inmyredkitchen
After a delicious first course we serve this Lamb stew with porcini as the main course for Christmas. It’s an easy recipe and it can easily be prepared the day before.

Earlier this year -back in Amsterdam- I bought lamb steaks. I thought. But it turned out to be lamb shoulder. And, as we all know, you can make some delicious stew with lamb shoulder.
So I did. I tossed some ingredients together and made a delicious lamb stew. If only I wrote down the recipe or remembered what ingredients I used to make this…

Last week we celebrated our first real Thanksgiving in the US. The first of many to follow 🙂 It was great, we spent the day with friends and I made the turkey, the gravy and some delicious pumpkin pies.

I did a lot of reading to prep for this holiday, I bought some magazines and checked this BuzzFeed over and over again 😉 ‘Cause c’mon, this was my first turkey day!

Rollade – Stuffed Pork Chops for Thanksgiving

Can you believe it’s already November? And that means that Thanksgiving is coming up!

In the Netherlands we don’t do Thanksgiving. But of course we do Christmas! So when Readers.com asked me to create a holiday recipe for their Holiday Cookbook I instantly thought of the ‘Rollade’ my mom served during many Christmasses. (is that a word? Well, it is now!)

The most popular Christmas tradition in the Netherlands is ‘gourmetten’.
